When seniors or individuals with disabilities are unable to care for themselves or manage their financial matters, JSS may be able to serve as corporate guardian, representative payee, financial agent or conservator. We decide on a case- by- case basis whether the agency is able to serve and only does so when no appropriate family member or friend is available. A fee may be charged; but no one is turned away because of an inability to pay.

Corporate Guardianship
Since 1982, JSS has been designated by the State of Wisconsin as a corporate guardian. The agency can be appointed as guardian of the person or guardian of the person and the estate, when an individual is adjudicated by the Court as incompetent.
Representative Payeeship
Sometimes people receiving Federal or State benefits such as Social Security, SSI, SSDI or Veterans' benefits are determined to be unable to manage their checks independently. These individuals must have a Representative Payee to manage these funds. JSS can serve in that capacity.
Financial Agent
As part of their estate planning, some individuals complete a document called a Financial Durable Power of Attorney. If JSS is designated as agent, the agency can manage financial affairs.when the individual is unable to do so him/herself.
Conservator
On occasion, an individual with income from a job or pension feels unable to manage money. Through an attorney, the person can petition the Court to allow JSS to serve as conservator.
